“Hot and dry in summer, warm and rainy in winter.”
That’s the sentence we were all fooled by when we were young—and sadly, we believed it. Then we grew up and discovered it was a big lie. Where exactly is that “warm winter”?! Every winter feels colder than the one before, until we’ve basically frozen solid. So what now—are we supposed to just surrender?

No. We’re not going to stay wrapped under blankets, hiding from the cold, blowing on our frozen hands trying to warm them up. Let’s think differently—how about going somewhere warm, where the sun shines all day? That’s what many people are thinking about now instead of living inside this freezer we call winter. There are many places you can escape to during the mid-year holiday.

Places inside Egypt and outside Egypt

Luxor & Aswan

It’s long been known that Upper Egypt is one of the warmest places during winter. Yes, nights can be a bit cool, but nothing compared to the cold we experience elsewhere. The peak season there is winter, especially from December to February. And it’s not just about the weather—Luxor alone is home to nearly one-third of the world’s ancient monuments.

Dahab & Taba

If you love natural scenery and the sea, then Dahab or Taba is perfect for you. Located in Sinai, the weather during the day is warm even in winter. You might even see snow on the mountain peaks, along with coral reefs and natural springs.

Siwa

Siwa is ideal if you enjoy peace, quiet, and stunning natural landscapes. It’s one of the most beautiful natural reserves in Egypt, located in the Western Desert, about 300 km from Marsa Matrouh.

Traveling outside Egypt – a pleasant surprise

There are countries that actively support tourism and allow easy entry—no complicated visas or paperwork. Just a flight ticket and a hotel booking! Not only that, but prices there are often cheaper than in Egypt.

Countries like Malaysia, Lebanon, Hong Kong, and the Maldives—around 18 countries in total—can be entered with just a passport. Let me tell you more about Malaysia.

It’s not difficult at all

  1. Book a flight ticket to Malaysia

  2. Obtain a security clearance from the government complex

  3. Book accommodation via Booking.com or any hotel platform

Once you arrive at the airport, you’ll receive a 90-day tourist entry permit.

The most expensive part is the flight ticket, especially after currency devaluation. The Malaysian Ringgit used to be worth 2 EGP, but after flotation it doubled to around 4 EGP. So the flight cost nearly doubled as well—currently around 5,000 EGP round trip.

However, hotels there are extremely affordable. Prices start at 150 EGP per night—yes, really! Even 100 EGP for a two-star hotel. You could stay 5 days for just 500 EGP. Transportation and food are also very cheap.

You’ll see amazing historical sites, beautiful nature, and islands. Some of the most famous places include:

  • Petronas Twin Towers – the most famous twin towers in the world

  • Batu Caves – the most famous Hindu temple

You can even take a short flight to Indonesia, spend a couple of days there, get a visa for just 35 USD, and still enjoy very low prices.

So go ahead—think about it, grab a friend, change your mood, and travel. Don’t wait for your honeymoon 😉
