All of us, when we come back from a long vacation, that first day back to work is just not great… and we want it to pass by in any way possible. But so that you don’t feel how bad it is, don’t do these things as much as you can.
1- Don’t pull an all-nighter
If you’re coming back late from traveling, or even if you stayed at home but the long vacation messed up your routine and got you used to staying up late, and you’re supposed to wake up early to go to work — don’t let the devil mess with your head and tell you to stay up all night and not sleep until work time, go to work, and then sleep comfortably when you get back… You’ll just be exhausting yourself more, and your mood will be bad all day.
2- Don’t go to the bank
Usually, after any normal vacation, the first day back to work, banks are packed because people want to transfer, withdraw, or deposit money into their accounts. So imagine a day that comes after a veeeery long vacation… Banks are extremely crowded, and the employees can’t stand themselves… So if you can postpone your trip to the bank, postpone it.
3- Don’t delete your emails
After vacations, we always assume that everyone was on vacation like us and that nobody sent us important emails… especially if we haven’t organized our email into categories by importance, or we don’t use Gmail’s features that do this automatically. So an important message that someone sent you on the last workday after you left might slip by you — or even one sent during the vacation that was important. So check your messages first before deleting anything.
4- Don’t make them feel like you’re free
Of course, when you come back from vacation, your bosses feel like they want to work you like a servant in anything and everything, just because they think you have to make up for what you missed… even though in most cases you didn’t actually miss anything at all, and you go to work and don’t find anything important to do beyond what you do every day. That’s why you should try to make your bosses understand that you are working and not just sitting around doing nothing… even if that’s the case anyway.
